Garden Park

Garden Park was inspired by a passage from Robert Adams' Beauty in Photography: "Gardens are in fact strikingly like landscape pictures, sanctuaries not from but of truth... a safe wayside for travelers, built from the local geography, but still and clarifying". Adams also notes that the word paradise comes from the Persian term for "a walled enclosure". This etymology captures something essential about how I see the Dutch garden allotments scattered across Amsterdam. These spaces feel like a world within the world, running parallel to the city outside. Their stillness and clarity are not simply given, but structured, shaped by boundaries, access, and use. Through this series, I explore these enclosed environments as spaces that offer distance from the surrounding city while remaining defined by it.
